August & Sept Puzzles
Math History-Mystery Puzzles connect mathematics to other disciplines, inspirational individuals, historical & current events, social justice issues, and pop culture. Students solve math clues to find each Mystery Year. These puzzles relate to dates in August and September. Also see puzzles for dates throughout the year.
- Each puzzle requires the critical reading of a passage and the solving of math clues based on middle-school skills and concepts correlated to the Common Core State Standards.
- As each clue is solved, students record a digit of the Mystery Year in a place-value chart at the bottom of the page. The final clue often provides a “check” for determining the correct Mystery Year.
